How to make the syrup

Each kit includes pre-measured elderberries, rosehips, ginger, and cinnamon. Combine the contents with 3 cups of water in a saucepan. Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce to a low simmer for 30–45 minutes, mashing the berries lightly as they soften. Strain through a fine mesh sieve, pressing gently to extract the liquid. Let the liquid cool until warm — not hot — then stir in ½ to 1 cup raw honey to taste. Transfer to a glass jar, refrigerate, and use within 2–3 weeks.

If you plan to sweeten with raw honey, wait until the liquid cools below 110°F. Higher heat cooks off the compounds that make raw honey different from processed honey.

Ways to use the finished syrup

A spoonful in warm tea, stirred into sparkling water, drizzled over oatmeal or yogurt, or used as a pancake topper. Also works in salad dressings with lemon and olive oil.

Allergen note: Contains honey (bee product) when sweetened with raw honey. Produced in a facility that handles tree nuts. Do not give honey to infants under 12 months of age.
